B.J. Rewane has more than 25 years experience in Banking, Finance and Economics. He is an economist by background and training, and a banker by profession. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Monetary Economics from the University of Ibadan. He started his career with Barclays Bank International Limited in the U.K. in their graduate training programme. He qualified as Chartered member of the Institute Bankers of England and Wales. He worked with the Economic Intelligence Unit of Barclays Bank International before proceeding to join the First National Bank of Chicago. During a long stint in merchant banking with the First National Bank of Chicago, He rose to the level of a General Manager and Treasurer of the Bank, which later came to be known as the International Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited. He retired from the bank to co-found the Financial Derivatives Company Limited, a leading Economic and Business Research Institution in Nigeria. Financial Derivatives Company Limited acted as financial advisers in the conceptualization and midwifing of a flag carrier airline for Nigeria between 2003 and 2005. Financial Derivatives Company Limited also provides strategic Economic consulting services to the top drawer firms operating in Nigeria cutting across all sectors of the economy and the multilateral and diplomatic community Board Positions He served as a Director of Lion Bank of Nigeria for 7 years and Intercity Bank Limited for a period of 5 years and Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited for 5 years.
